The Hyatt Regency Resort is located on the southern side of the famed beach of Teluk Cempedak. It is also located 10 minutes away from the city of Kuantan where you will be able to find the largest shopping complex on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Located on the most popular in Kuantan, the resort offers everything that you would expect from the Hyatt chain. You will find that the resort is set in a typical Malaysian kampong environment while providing you with the comfort that you will find in any modern resort. There are also two large swimming pools that are located on each wing of the resort making it convenient for the guests staying at either side to swim in.
There are many ways of getting to Kuantan if you plan to drive there from Kuala Lumpur you can use the scenic East Coast Expressway which will take you about two and a half hour. If you are not up to the long drive you can opt to take the airplane from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Kuantan Airport. Airasia does not fly to Kuantan so the only option for travelers at this time is only Malaysian Airlines, when you have arrived at the airport you can take the taxi to the city centre it will take approximately 15-20 minutes for you to reach there.
First impressions are very important and Hyatt Regency Resort surely does not disappoint here. The lobby has an open air concept that is typically found in these parts of the state, here you will find that there are plenty of spots for you to relax and at the same time you will be able to enjoy the panoramic view of the swimming pool and the beach. The Kampong Restaurant is located at the level below the lobby and it the main eatery of the resort where you will be able to try a wide selection of international and local flavors that will sure to tantalize your taste buds. However, there are other F&B outlets located within the Hyatt Regency Resort such as the Italian Bistro that serves delectable Mediterranean dishes or if you are in the mood for some oriental food then Yuen-Yuen Chinese Restaurant will be perfect for you. For those that are into night activities the resort have pubs and bars such as the Coals on the Beach, Coco Loco, the Sampan Bar and the Verandah.
The resort has a total of 336 rooms and suites making it one of the biggest resorts on the East Coast of Malaysia on par with the Awana Kijal Beach, Golf and Spa Resort. Each of the rooms is equipped with its own verandah and depending on how much you are paying you will either get the view of the garden or the sea. The rooms are divided into a few categories such as the deluxe room, executive’s suites, the Regency Club or the Presidential Suites.
Keeping with the open air concept the spas are located in a garden setting that is located near the tennis court. So it will be hard to miss especially a few rounds at the court where you can soothe the tired joints. If the pools are not enough for you, then you can always opt for the private section at the Teluk Chempedak beach.
We do not really recommend this hotel as the rate is relative higher than other comparative hotels but with less facilities. Internet fee is a whopping RM20-40 per hour.
